I'm in the same situation as you, I live in NYC, and in fact I have the same identical car as you. 2000 Accord EX V6 sedan. I have a drop of 1.75 with Konig Monsoon rims wrapped in 215-50-17. They rub, so be careful. I'd recommend a higher offset than mine (i'm at 40mm).

Acura TL Type S rims are wrapped with 215-50-17 tires. I had 225/45/17 but they rubbed even more so than they do now. I'm either going to invest in a set of Acura rims or have my body guy do something funky with the panels so I quit rubbing.
