Mine does that too, being a little hard to push into first while at a dead stop. Just let the clutch out ever so slightly while pushing it into first gear. I'm actually sending my car upstate today for a tranny rebuild and clutch replacement; my mainshaft and countershaft bearings have gone bad. Anyways, my transmission guy says that because our early hondas use motor oil to lube these trannys it really doesn't get the best lubrication it could for the tranny internals. I told him that after the rebuild I wanted to replace the fluid with Redline lubricant. He agreed saying it was a great idea.
