1996 Honda Accord EX
2001 Trans Am w/ WS6 package

Color:
Accord: Frost White
Trans Am: Bright Red

Miles on it:

Accord: 135,000 currently, but will have close to 140,000 when I return home from a cross country trip next week.

Trans Am: 52,000 miles.

For how much?

Accord: $11,000 2 years ago with 40,000 miles.

Trans Am: $32,000 brand new in 2001.

Problems so far?

Accord:
-Exhaust b-pipe rusted out @ 80,000 miles
-A/C drainage hose clogs and drains water on floor @ 65,000 miles.
-original speakers started blowing @ 100,000 miles
-TCM failed @ 70,000 miles
-Light bulbs started blowing @ 90,000 miles
-Original battery pooped out @ 110,000 miles.
-Car refuses to stay aligned.
-Shop discovered broken motor mount @ 50,000 miles
-Original radiator retired @ 130,000 miles
-CV joints/shafts replaced @ 122,000 miles after boots split.
-First and only tune-up @ 85,000 miles (Warranty freebe)
-02 sensor replaced @ 134,000 miles (warranty repair)
-Driver's power window regulator goes belly-up @115,000 miles
-Routine maintenance items such as a set of brakes, tires, belts, hoses, etc.

Trans Am:

-OEM brake rotors warped @ 5,000 miles
-Brake rotors warped again @ 7,000 miles
-And again @ 10,000 miles
-And again...
-Brakes replaced with aftermarket components @ 15,000 miles.
-Factory Eagle F1s replaced @ 31,000 miles.
-Original battery goes tits up @ 22,000 miles.
-Replacement battery dead @ 35,000 miles.
-Second replacement battery deceased @ 45,000 miles.
-Both cats. replaced under warranty @ 50,000 miles.
-Fog light takes in water and replaced under warranty @ 38,000 miles.

How much money did you put in it so far?

Accord:
-Couple thousand - including maintenance, repairs and enhancements

Trans Am:
-Cost of oil changes ($19 each) set of tires and brakes ($800 total) and two batteries at $60 each.

What do you plan to do with it in the future?

Accord: Drive it until it disintegrates.

Trans Am: Sell it and buy something newer and better.

Why did you buy it?

Accord:

-Just can't beat the reliability of a 5th gen 4-cylinder Accord.
-Gas saver.
-Eats up miles like cake.
-Body style has more soul than 98+ models
-FWD for winter conditions
-Holds it's value like no other car in it's class
-Wanted to own a Japanese car to discover what the hype was all about.

Trans Am:

Goes like stink and looks good doing it.

What do you like the most about your car?

Accord:

-Engine never quits.
-Still looks like new after 9 years.
-Longevity of OEM components is outstanding.
-Relatively fun to drive compared to other cars in it's class.

Trans Am:

-Runs 13s in the quarter mile right out of the box.
-Body style is fabulous
-500-watt 10 speaker Bose audio sound system, stock.
-T-tops
-Has held up superbly to my abuse.

What do you dislike about your car?

Accord:

-Unrefined drivetrain.
-A couple cheap interior touches.
-Inadequate low-end performance.
-Feels dated compared to modern cars.
-Rednecks think I'm a rice-boy.

Trans Am:

-Lacks build quality
-Noisy LS1 engine
-Consumes about a quart of oil between 3,000 mile intervals.
-Resale Value went down the Water hole.
-Noisy rear-end.
-Typical GM ergonomics.
-Tires are overpriced and short lived.
-Electrical gremlins are annoying.
-Rice boys think I'm a redneck.
