depends on what type of shooting. AR's are very accurate and you get what you pay for. YOu can customize one to sharp shoot by getting the m16 upper receiver with the long barrel and scope, or you can do competition shooting at closer range with and M4 upper. AK's are great if you like to plink and try to hit targets at med range. Its a much heavier rifle, doesn't need to be cleaned as much and doesn't have the customization that an M4 has. The rounds for an AK are cheaper and you dun have to worry about if they are russian or american made, it will work fine. I like the AR's personally because I can customize it to the way I feel like shooting at the time. h:
