Yeah, salary caps sure helped the NFL.

Salary caps may remove teams like the Yankee's and other dynasties, but all they really create is a bunch of mediocre teams that change players more often than most people change underwear.

Salary caps are not good for sports. At least not the way the NFL designed them, which is the way people in Baseball want to do it.

My proposal is a maximum amount (per year) for a particular position. No "total amount" for the team, just a maximum amount for that position. That way you keep costs low so everyone can get good players, and it makes organizations be GOOD to their players to retain them.

I.E, a Quarterback in the NFL can ONLY make $8,000,000 a year - PERIOD, where as a lineman might only be able to make $6,000,000 a year - or something like tha, and where that QB goes is up to him. He negotiates however long of a contract he wants. But the bottom line is, someone cant come in adn offer him $40,000,000 and steal him away. That would make teams have a more fair chance of building a good team, and make the teams *also* have to treat their players nicely to keep them around. It would keep fans interested because they'd have a common team time and tiem again, the chance to create dynasties (which are the best for sports), and still keep the game competitive for all teams.
