most cars come from the factory with the rear raised, trucks are more like 2-5" taller in the back because people put loads there and the springs eventually sag. we lower in those sorts of amounts because a more level car handles differently, (not necessarily better, but different)

i say yes you do and if you dont now you'll be out some money for tires... mine drop was 1.5 and all was well eventually all the tires wore really bad and had to be replaced.... the slightest bit can over time have an affect on your tires..
