If you search the internet, you will see lots of transmission problem related to 98 and 99 accords as well. Too bad that they are not covered under the extended warranty. Just call 1-800 customer service and open a case. You *may* have chance to get some help. It is painful process and the customer service is rude. However, it is worth a try. I take very good care of my car and thought I won't have the tranny problem like others. When I was stuck with bill, I realize it could happen to anyone when the car reaches certain mileages. Thanks for the information from others that I didn't ended up pay 5000.00.
