Yes, it defrosts it better, and quicker.
A/C air is dehumdified, so the dryer air does a better job removing the condensation.
To the guys who turn it off, remember that even in off months you should run the A/C from time to time to prevent the seals from drying out, shrinking, and allowing the refrigerant to leak out. Id just leave it as is, to help with that periodic necessary maintenance.
