if auto, put car in neutral, raise parking brakes, lift foot of the brake pedal and allow the parking brakes to take the load, then put foot back on the brake pedal and put tranny into Park.
similar in manual except i put the car in 1st or reverse depending on how i'm parked.
if on a hill add turning the steering wheel to both of the above.

I do that when parked on a flat land. If parked at someone slope, I'd throw it in gear and e-brake. But oftentimes, I'm still used to my car being an aut o and just get in and start up the car :eek4:
