I haven't had the pleasure to drive a Type R, which I hear is leaps and bounds above the GS-R as far as handling. I do have a local here who has about 3000 bones into his Type R and is not even breaking 200whp after being dyno tuned by a local shop. It's not getto rigged and has a good list of top of the line parts. $3000 into a GSX will put you into the low 13s, high 12s . <-- not flaming, so please take no offence. I just don't think Honda's and DSMs are in the same straight line class.
If he spent that 3k wisely, he could be in the 12's too. Most people however are stuck on being "JDM" and buying big name parts that don't always make power, and staying naturally aspirated. I wouldn't hesitate to boost it or put it on the bottle. Shit, even buying the right parts for an NA build that actually work would put him over 200 whp.
