Out of curiosity, do you have the same symptoms when the stereo is off? (I mean, the gauges dropping etc.) If the problem goes away when the stereo is off, I'd check your new speaker wiring for shorts to chassis ground. But this is just a guess.
well the best example i can think of is:
whenever you release the clutch, before you step on the gas and the car appears to turn off.

Well i've only had this happen to me twice. The first time is the day after I installed my 6x9's and then the 2nd time after I installed my 6 1/2's. However it hasn't happen since, but I am scared of turning my radio on too high.
