I'm having a problem with it. This is what happens:
I will be driving and suddenly my audio goes off for just a second but comes back on. I notice my gauges also drop and then rise again to the state they were in before. It's almost like a power surge.
I checked my fuses but they are all fine. At first I thought it was my alternator but it checks out fine and I have a new battery that is 2 months old at most.
Recently I installed some new Pioneer 6x9's and 6 1/2's. I don't have an amp on them now. I've had my Panasonic headunit for 3 months now and not a problem since.
Anyone have this happen to them before? Any suggestions on what to check? I'm trying to get to it before something bad happens
Sounds like a momentary high drain condition, like something extremely power-hungry is coming on for a moment. I'd suspect a short but you would almost certainly blow a fuse.
Out of curiosity, do you have the same symptoms when the stereo is off? (I mean, the gauges dropping etc.) If the problem goes away when the stereo is off, I'd check your new speaker wiring for shorts to chassis ground. But this is just a guess.
