No, for instance, the Applications read "Have you completed Highschool or a GED?"

You check mark yes or no. It doens't ask you to specify which. I'm sure some employers do, but by law they aren't allowed to specify or require you to specify; they can dig it up in a check if they wish with transcripts, but not on initial applications.

In any case, you are right. A Diploma is better, but if you have a good reason why you didn't graduate then it's not of importance. If you were a terrible kid and got in tons of trouble and didn't graduate because you were too busy going to jail or doing drugs; you might have a problem.
