I think that the student (if refused to be served by the tech) is right! he shouldn't pay the fee, and reason of not being able to return Saturday or sundays are valid! How can you refuse a student at 7:50?!?! even if it does take 20 min of work on the computer you should accept him(do the 10 min of overtime), if you truly believe that it isn't fair to do a bit more then what your job ask you, then tell your boss to change return hour to 7:30 and that would eliminate all problems!
true, but its still annoying when someone comes in right before closing and keeps you late. but according to the time clock the person was there till 8pm, and from the sound of it the student did not show up as was lying.

I agree, if the tech was there and the student did return the laptop 10minutes before closing and was refused he should not have to pay a late fee. an extra 10minutes won't cut into the tech's drinking time that much, and I'm sure being a fellow student the tech would understand and accept the computer when it was returned.
