hey, i was there too....:wavey:
anyhoo, yeah, course was great---i dunno what ur talking about on the slalom critiques up there^, i thought it was fine, and actually, in a lot of ways i thought the course was easier to follow than last week. i DNF-ed one last week because the mid-course cross thru the double gate leading back to a hard left was completely counter-intuitive for me. :dunno:
and as for tire pressure....i've been runnin 40 on my fronts n 30 in the rear, seems to be working, eh, ohkay. this was only my 4th event so there's plenty of time to play with it, and besides, i am running on probably THE shittiest tires on course (really, don't bother arguing with me here....2 are generals, 1 is a cooper, and the 4th is this completely bald-wal-mart generic brand called sonar...and yes, i know it isn't a good idea to auto-x them, and yes, i'm looking at getting falken azenis when the time comes to replace all 4.
anyhoo--for you newbies out there....i've found a lot of assistance by talking to guys at a forum that's all about preludes, as far as set-up and knowledge about how the car will handle, etc. i'm also reading a book called "the secrets of solo racing" by henry watts...it's been really valuable for me--and i think it's a good idea to get something like that as a reference, especially in your first few events. that way, when you're at the course, you can practice what you've learned, talk to others about it, then come home and really drive the principles home with the diagrams and explanations in the book. some concepts are more difficult to grasp than others, and simply talking about it in on the grid or in the pits doesn't always make a big enough impression. (or, that might just be me)...once i have the basics down (and a lil spare $$$ if ya nahmean), i'll put myself thru some driver training courses.
and jae....sorry about your laptop man...i saw that thing fly, it made me cringe...
fYi, there was some dude there taking muchos pictures with his digital SLR...he's going to be emailing me some pix (hopefully)...i'm not sure if he stuck around all day or not, but if he posts them somewhere i'll find out for y'all....
