The old-old way is work your way from farthest to closest. Then in the '60s with dual/diagonal brakes, you start with the farthest then go diagonally opposite. So that would be RR-LF-LR-RF.
Then with ABS the order is based on which circuit is more likely to push bubbes into which other circuit. That depends on the plumbing details around the ABS modulator, not the distance to each wheel.
