What I meant to say was that the cones seemed to be placed a peculiar angle and distance. A lot of the guys came in complaining that the cones were a feet or two off from where they would normally expect them to be in a slalom.
I also realized marking the cones is a really good way to learn the course. My brother and I helped mark a portion of the course and it gave us a good feel for what we were up against.
