Right. On most Hondas in order to get the most out of the engine you have to go high. Your VTEC cross over is about 5500rpms. Don't worry about redlining either. It's a soft redline and will not kill your engine UNLESS you downshift from say 80mph in 5th gear to 2nd gear = that's bad.

My 2000 Honda Civic Si is over 4 years old with about 180 autocrosses on it and about 70,000 miles. And the engine still runs strong. Redlined many times It's something you get used to when owning a Honda.
