First of all, your car does have a VTEC engine as XS pointed out. And don't worry about the RPM's. The motor is built by Honda to be revved that high. Although you might be used to lower RPMs, you probably have been driving a lot of 6 and 8 cylinder cars. Basically what it comes down to is that with 4 cylinders, you need to rev it higher to get power out of it. At 75 mph on the highway, you should be up at about 3500 rpms with that motor/tranny combo. It is perfectly fine. Get used to the high revving if you're going to drive 1.6L imports
