Here's my guess... FWIW..

Since the rear trailing arms are interchangeable with the EG Civic, it is possible that a prior owner replaced a set of bent trailing arms on teh cheap by throwing on a pair of EG Civic arms. :dunno: If those arms were from a CX or HX, that would explain the presence of rear drums.

It's certainly not something that I would do. :eek3: In fact, if your brother drives enthusiastically, he'd be better off IMHO switching back over to rear discs. h:

Again, I haven't seen the car (obviously), so this guess is a shot in the dark.
