Lowering can actually put some stress on your axles and joints. The way around it is to support it. Don't just lower your w/springs, add adjustable struts that support lowered vehicles and add a camber kit to keeps your wheels from flexing inward and adding stress to your cv joints. My 99 GSR has been lowered since it had 22k on it. It's now at 76k. I did it right and it had ridden well since and I have not had a problem.
