They changed the ABS system between '97 & '98. I'm guessing that the tube fittings that attach to the master cylinder are a little different. So it won't work without some screwing around with the tubing.

Why do you need a new MC? What's wrong with your brakes? Have you tried bleeding & it doesn't get better?
