I may be able to offer some help with this problem. I had an 87 Prelude that had the EXACT problem. What it turned out to be is a small part called an igniter. I am not sure that the newer cars even have these but it may be worth looking into. My car would do the exact same thing, I would be driving and out of the blue everything would shut off. Then all of a sudden it would come back on. It also got worse with time but once I replaced the igniter (in the cap) all was good again
