The B18A made less power, and had a marginally lower redline.
The B18A had less static compression compared to the B18B, and the stock cams were more conservative.

But the problem goes further than that when you're looking to swap....

In CA, you cannot put an older motor in a newer chassis and expect to pass smog.
Instead, the engine must be from the same year as the target car or newer, and every last emissions component must be tranferred to the target car.

Check your state emission laws first -- before you buy the older engine.

I'll be very surprised if New York State doesn't have a similar law.
