You have a hydraulic clutch, and it sounds like you may have air in the lines. Adding brake fluid to the clutch reservoir is only the start. You have to bleed the clutch to remove the air.

Is there any evidence of leaking anywhere? If so that's a little more serious. Look under the carpeting by the clutch pedal, sometimes it leaks where the shaft comes thru the firewall.
