I'm looking for a new phone and I noticed there are many types of auctions on Ebay. There are the dealers selling for near MSRP with near zero bids, guys selling unlocked for reasonable prices and the dutch auctions.

Are the dutch auctions for real? The guy has good feedback and is currently selling electronics stuf so he doesn't seem like a scammer. However, i'm not sure if the prices are for real. They are 50% of the MSRP. I sure would hate to lose $500 in a scam, I read about it at howardforums.com

Anyone have experience on ebay with phones?
