1990 integra won't run - fuel system problem?
i've got a 90 integra LS that i've been struggling with for a couple weeks to get up & running again.
for about a day and a half prior to the car dying on me i noticed that when i gave it gas out of an intersection, it would hesitate for a second before going, almost feeling like it was gonna die. the enxt day, as i gave it gas out of an intersection, just suddenly died.
i had a mechanic look at it and after testing all kinds of stuff he figured it was either the main relay or the computer. basically the car would rev but not turn over & start. tested main relay, which was fine, so got computer inspected and repaired, they said it was pretty thrashed. still no go. ended up replacing chip in computer. still no go.
more troubleshooting, tested the distributor, which appeared fine. fuel pump was fine. however, realized that although spark plugs getting plenty spark, they are not getting any fuel. there's plenty of fuel pressure at the pump, but the spark plugs were bone dry. so something's stopping the fuel from getting to the plugs.
thought about checking the computer for errors, but not getting any blinking error messages off of the red light.
anyway, i've gotten the car running a couple times, with use of starting fluid and plenty of cranking, but it always runs for a while but after you actually try to drive it after maybe a couple minutes it dies again while giving it gas.
any ideas?? i'm running out of hope but don't want to dump this car yet that has given me SO much workhorse miles over the years. I mean we're talking 14 years of only the most minor problems.
thanks a lot. and please any questions, fire away, i think i kinda rambled on & on yet still may have left out something pertinent.
