:chuckles: yeah, i see what you're saying, and i see that i'm doing just that. but actually, i found the coupon code on
fatwallet.com. i saw no mention of it whatsoever on dell's site, until i actually entered the code.
anyway, i went with the 2 year. normally i don't bother, but eh, the thing priced out to be a lot cheaper than i expected (coupon code or not). and like brian said.. peace of mind.
here are the specs:
Inspiron 9100 Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 2.80GHz with HT Tech, 15.4-in WSXGA+
Memory FREE UPGRADE! 512MB,400MHz,2DIMM (from 256MB,400MHz,1DIMM)
Video Card 128MB DDR ATI's MOBILITY™ RADEON™ 9700 AGP 8X Graphics

so, after 15% off coupon (-$274.05), mail-in rebate (-$150), and free 2nd day shipping, it ends up being $1414.80.. not too bad, if you ask me.

any reason why? i know of at least 4 people that have dells as their personal PCs (notebook and desktop), and then there are the dozens of dells that we have at my current company. not to mention that i've been using them for years. they're all rock solid. also not to mention that i've looked up comparable notebooks at other places (i.e. alienware, voodoo PC), and they were double the price easy.
