You can check out
http://police.antarius.net/ - I don't know how much longer it will be up, and I obviously stopped updating it - but you can read from the beginning of my Academy up to about week 15, with whatever I updated it with.
The Physical Training was different for us than it will be for your CHP stuff, but the bottom line is you will most likely have to do lots and lots of running. I'm not a fast runner at all and I ended up doing 1.5 miles in 9:50 or so, when I started I was much slower.
The local academy's tend to train you a lot in endurance and hand to hand combat, because that's what you get involved in, I'm not sure what CHP entails.
Now, specific questions they asked....
Have you smoked Marijuana? Yes.
When was the last time? June of '02.
Have you done other drugs? No.
Have you stolen anything? Yes.
From an employer? Yes.
Sold it? Yes.
Have you slept with a minor when you were over the age of 18? Yes
How old were you? 18, she was 17.
Were you honest in your financial records? Yes.
Have you ever commited a felony? No.
Has anyone in your presence commited a crime? Yes.
Have you allowed anyone to bring illegal material or contraband into your house or vehicle? Yes.
Have you driven home legally drunk? Yes.
They ask you all that kind of stuff, and tons and tons more, and then go over bits and pieces of it and ask you if you were telling the truth - or outright ask the question - while on the Polygraph... to see if you were being honest.
Don't worry about all that stuff though man, keep your eye on the ball. Right now you need to do what it takes to get hired on by CHP to be put through their academy, or find a local academy and put yourself through it and/or find another department to put you through theirs. Focus on that first, spend the time learning about the departments and the people, the time to do ridealongs, and the money to get a nice suit and all the paperwork (Certified copies of Birth Certificates, Highschool Transcripts, your insurance, a personal history statement quesitonaire, etc. ec.) in order so you can be the first one to turn it back in to the background investigator.
Then focus on the academy, and then focus on work.
