Depends. With the light cars we're talking about (DC2 and 240SX), it's more or less a toss up.
Some people like the front drivers better, some people like the rear drivers better. On a road course, I would feel safer in the front driver. In a US Drift show down the chute at Summit Point, I'd want the rear driver.
There's a size at which front drive becomes inefficient. IMHO, cars like the Acura TL are at the edge of that efficiency. Anything bigger should really be rear drive.
There's also a HP point at which front drive is less desirable. A 500 HP front driver on a road course, even with the best LSD in the world, would be a problem to drive.
However, with the cars that most of us can afford to drive on the track or race in amateur series like the Honda Challenge and the various NASA series, lightweight front drivers definitely have some advantages.
In a combined race like a NASA Small Bore race, where there will be many cars with approximately the same weight and HP,
the rear drivers do not seem to enjoy any kind of advantage that I've ever seen.
