Default Burning Smell - Scarey

Hey guys, I'm new here, so far I've been reading posts and I love it. I came across a problem about a week ago, here's my situation:

I was doing "the strip" with my 5th gen prelude about a week ago, probably the 3rd time I've ever done it in that car. You see, this prelude is my first car, and I've only had it for about a month. Well, "the strip" as I call it, is a pair of two one way streets with no posted speed limits. Both are about a quarter mile, and each has a cuve then stop sign at the end. The goal is to get going as fast as you can on the strip, but then of course brake sufficiantly for the curve and not run the stop sign. You have to use judgment, and know when to start braking. That night I got up to about 87mph on the first portion, and braked pretty hard to survive the curve and stop sign. Then I continued onto the second portion of "the strip" (which is basically the same thing). Again I had to brake pretty hard at the end to stop at the stop sign. RIght, well, here comes the trouble.

While sitting at that last stop sign (after pushing the car pretty hard, almost redlining it for two runs, and braking pretty hard twice) I smelt burning. I'm just sitting there freaking out because this is my first car and I love it soo much (I actually baby the car, with the exception of the occaisional strip run). Right then, so, the question is:!:

What's this burning smell mean?
I'm thinking it's the brakes, altought some people might say the clutch or tires or something. Maybe even a nearby barbeque. Thanks guys.
