Default Talking Behind a Person's Back

I wanted to hear (read) what HAN would suggest about people who talk behind a person's back, within the workplace? What should a person do if they find out that someone is talking shit about them to others?

Basically I did some work for this dude, it didn't meet "his" standard so he took what he thought needed work to another co-worker. Now I am cool that he took the work to someone else, that's not a big deal for me. Its that now this prick is talking shit about me. How should I handle this problem? Thanks for your input.
