The scenario I discussed is not that farfetched. The security of Pakistan's nuclear weapons program is certainly questionable.

We know Al Qaeda has been eager to acquire nuclear weapons.
Pakistani President Musharraf (sp?) has had to deal with a number of assassination attempts.
A successful Taliban coup d'etat in Pakistan would be cause for grave concern.

Would you trust a horde of trigger-happy militants with thermonuclear munitions...and with no governing body to provide oversight?
