So yeah, I made it back with relatively little fuss.
I got about 150 miles from home when I saw some overly scary looking clouds up ahead and decided to pull over somewhere along the PA turnpike to put the top up. It was a good thing I did, because I hit a torrential downpour about a mile up the road. The rain finally cleared up enough for me to put the top back down somewhere in the middle of the OH turnpike, and it remained in that position for the remainder of the trip to Chicago.
I got to Chicago, had dinner with my grandma, went to sleep, etc. The next morning I set out for Madison with my trusty (so I thought) Yahoo directions in hand. These directions were actually freakin retarded, as they sent me about 15-20 miles past downtown Chicago, and then another 15-20 miles back in to a point which I drove past once before already! Given the traffic in the Chicago area, I essentially wasted about an hour and a half with that detour.
Now I'm in Madison, and I have yet to really unpack much of anything. My apartment is pretty nice though. I have 650 square feet, some furnishings, full kitchen, bath, yadda yadda yadda. There's also a computer lounge (useful for the time being since my cable isn't getting hooked up til the 7th) and a big huge widescreen tv in the lobby. Oh, and there's a small pool and gym, and the kicker...I HAVE UNDERGROUND PARKING!
Otherwise I'm fine aside for a bit of a hangover. The only bad part is that classes start tomorrow.
