I remove my CAI, cover the distributor cap and intake manifold w/plastic bags, spray on Gunk Engine Degreaser and let it sit for a few minutes, then I pressure wash it. None of the above is done until the engine block is cool, if you do it while it's hot or warm you can take the chance of warping/cracking the block/head. After pressure washing I remove the bags, reinstall the CAI and start her up and let her idle for about 10-15 minutes to dry up the water and stuff on the engine and then I let it cool down again. Once cool, I'll go in w/a toothbrush, some Simple Green and rags and hit the areas that need it. Then to top it off, I'll put on some Black Magic to all hoses/plastic parts that I can reach and wipe on some quick detailer to my body color matched valve cover to finish the job. Takes a while but well worth it.
