get a car fax. Also if you can climb under the car, take a look at the frame. Make sure it isnt bent in anyway. Look under seats for broken glass to make sure it wasnt wrecked. look for little things that you can throw at the seller to make them come off of their asking price. Smell the oil. If it smells burnt then you can say something about that. check headlights for cracks and condensation. If the engine bay has been cleaned then look behind the motor under the manifold to see what it all looked like at one time. If i can think of anything else, I will let you know.
