What about going with a new CV half shaft
I don't think much of the split CV boots. It's hard for me to belive that they will maintain a good seal for any length of time.
It's a little more labor but the CV half shaft assemblies are pretty darn cheap. I've seen remans at rockauto.com for about $50 each and you get all new bearings a complete CV boot, etc. The core charge is acutally more than the part itself so you definitely want to trade them in.
