You need to start researching Civics. Know what you're going up against...
Find out what models run what times with what engines. Find out what can be done to those engines so you can spot anything that has been modified. Same for the chassis.
If you don't find out, you might be thinking you're going up against slightly modified Civic that might run mid-15's, when in fact, he has swapped in a 350-hp engine from a Lexus or something (if it would even fit and work - shows how much I know about them ).
