We never sent them a check. She went to a T-mobile store, bought a phone as an upgrade, wrote a check for it. The next day, she went back to the store and returned the phone. Now for our refund, she asked the sales person since the payment for the phone was a check, is it possible to just put a stop payment on it instead of having the check processed and for us to wait for 3 months for T-mobile to send us a refund check for the amount. The sales person agreed and said that they will not process the check any more since we're putting a stop payment on it. So we have every reason to believe that this was not to show up in our bill.
