No we didn't know about ozone and how pollution affects the earth but now that we do we don't even enforce the laws we have in place and instead just charge them a few extra bucks a year in fines and look the other way as though it never happened. Well, its true.. Many countries that are friendly with the US did so because it was in their best economic interest to trade and stuff with America. Its not the Americans fault that they're too rich .

Industries HAVE cleaned up a crapload since last century. So we're on the road to somewhere. Are you arguing that there wont be any pollution regulations up in space when we're on different planets?
