well, we've certainly learned a great deal about pollution and conservation. i mean, i dont think people knew about ozone during the industrial revolution. i think that the gov't can apply the lessons we learnt that to a new colony on another planet.
most of the countries we have beef with cannot afford sending a spacecraft in orbit let alone go to another planet. i dont think we'll have MUCH conflict on property in mars. we'll probably have a couple of nice spiffy peace treaties too.
And again the idea of American superiority comes through...this is what I am talking about as being a key issue
No we didn't know about ozone and how pollution affects the earth but now that we do we don't even enforce the laws we have in place and instead just charge them a few extra bucks a year in fines and look the other way as though it never happened. Heaven forbid we hold industry as well as government liable for their actions. Why do you think the US didn't sign the Kyoto Treaty? Oh yeah because we are one of the single largest polluters in the nation and don't want to be held accountable for it.
