Wow, I thought those 2 ton or 3 ton floor jacks would get the car high enough off the ground so that you could put jack stands at the rear jacking points.

That's exactly what I do with my sears 2 ton floor jack. I use the tow hook to jack up the rear of the car and I could get it high enough so that I could use the two jack stands at the rear jacking points.
