My 98 EX-V6 tranny was replaced by the person who owned my car before me, and at no charge from the dealership... of course it probably helped that she got all of the service done there(I have all the invoices, came w/ the car)

Classic symptoms of the 6th gen. auto trannies, hesitant to shift, loss of power, shifting not smooth.

I got it w/ 69k miles, it was replaced at 66k miles. New one shifts like a dream, and certainly has lots of power!

Perhaps try calling another dealership not far away?
