I didn't glue mine in, so I could remove them if I wanted, accept that I would have to find a new cap for the spot where I placed the brightness knob. The wiring wasn't soddered in, just clipped, so I could remove that easily.
But yea, it would be a pain. You could do it, but you would have to do a good job of removing them before turning the car in.
I have seem better gauges than mine, but they don't show up very often. I felt that the ones I had were a good comprimise for the fact that I didn't want to purchase an entire new gauge cluster.
There are good ones out there, you just have to look for a while. But I agree, most are not that great. I mean, I only spent $35 for mine, so that should tell you that you're only going to get something so great for $35. Spend more, and theoretically you might get something better...
