i think the next step would be just to weld my fabricated parts onto the seat assembly.
I'd have to agree, the manufacturer designs the seats to bolt to the chassis of the car a certain way for a reason.... if you connect them with haphazard brackets, that might threaten the safety of the seats.
Welding may do the job..... but honestly, you may really want to take them apart, as bumnah suggested.
