Yes, but asking for 160 is way too optimistic, even for a noob. If he seriously wants to get there:

-swap on a Y8 head.
-new, super aggressive cam
-stronger valve springs
-a sweet port and polish job
-high compression pistons
-aftermarket forged rods
-full engine balancing
-ported intake manifold
-ported or aftermarket throttle body
-a decent header/exhaust system
-synthetic oil
-MSD ignition system
-an air/fuel controller and dyno time to tune it.

You might get 160 if you are lucky but you'll be poor, too. D series are expensive to build.
