Default 1994 Accord engine rebuild

Well my Accord has finally given itself a rest after 268K miles.(I commute 215 miles/day...5 days...all interstate--75+ mph for the last 2 years). The balance shaft belt snapped after 33k. No sure why, but I did notice a slight rise in engine temp just before the sound of the belt snapping, I quicking killed the engine and had the car towed to the local auto hobby shop. Luckily the timing belt stayed intact(at least I thought). I replaced all the belts, distibutor cap and rotor, pcv, and the water pump, checked all the timings twice, resealed the p/s pump, checked and replace all fluids(no mixture found) and replaced the thermostat and some hoses. I also replaced the harmonic balancer because the rubber in it looked bad. When all was good I crank her over and she ran but she ran hard so I figure there's more work to be done so I figure I will just rebuild the motor completely, but exactly what am I looking at in terms of cost, I have friends who have done the used motor deal, but in the end they end up spending more to fix some inevitable problems which arise when you don't know exactly how the motor was used. I do own a Helms, but wanted to know if anyone could give me a ballpark estimate of cost, and maybe some advice if any. Thanks in advance.
