I believe it is acrylic clear. It is not just a clear coat but if you look at it close you will se the layer is really thick on it. I also used 1000 grit which is fine but you don't want to apply a lot of pressure unless you have serious chips and want to spend the time leveling the entire hood again...it sucks having to do that...just trust me on that one

I know what you mean. I filled in about a 100 rock chips on the front of a monza red 3000GT and then had to wetsand, buff, and buff, and buff, and buff out everything.
