Default ECU help

Hi,

I am new to this engine swapping info.... infact I bought the car with it completed so I had no knowledge of the process as it was happening.

Can someone tell me....I have a 1993 Del Sol with a JDM b16a(2) with a '93 GSR head, and I am not sure how to tell what ECU I have....what should I be using (I think the car has an aftermarket ecu right now) It also has a NOS setup.....doubt I'll use it, but my b/f wants to try it out once...hahaha...also (LSD) differential transmission, injen cold air intake, Ractive full catback exhaust including header...if that matters for the ecu.

The problem is it keeps backfiring (like a poping noise & sometimes a spark) when shifting....I thought maybe a fuel regulator would help, but someone told me it's the ECU.

Thanks for any info

~Kiersten

PS sorry if some of this is unclear....I'm a girl who just needs to learn a bit more about her car
