IMHO, I would not worry about the possibitly of gaining 2 or 12 hp I would worry about getting the car to run correctly with out doing damage.

there are no differences in the VAFC hp power wise (from what I have heard) but the II makes it easier to have different settings. like Hiway cruising and track max power.
